Public Health and Agricultural Policy Fellow
American Association for the Advancement of Science/USDA
Dr. Alexander is an ambitious and accomplished Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and an emerging leader in the agricultural policy realm. Given that cannabinoid products are regulated through the FDA as a direct result of the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, Dr. Alexander’s extensive background in agricultural policy provides our panel with a unique framework in which to understand the ever-changing landscape of cannabidiol-including products. Dr. Alexander has conducted research both in the United States and internationally, currently has 11 awards from Louisiana State University and various professional organizations. Dr. Alexander received both her MPH and DVM from Louisiana State University, and has presented “Vet Debt Relief the USDA Way: VMLRP, VSGP, and Other Veterinary Debt Relief Programs” to an audience of roughly 250 industry leaders at conferences hosted by the National Association of Black Veterinarians (NABV) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). While in her AAAS Fellowship at USDA NIFA, she has served as an internal reviewer of proposals from five colleges for the Food Animal Residue Avoidance Databank program. She has also been responsible for revising documents for stakeholders that are part of million-dollar-funded programs, all in addition to proving her management skills by leading a staff of 30+ as a Lead Associate Veterinarian.
