Leo Hovestadt

Director Governmental Affairs EU

Leo has worked for Elekta for 24 years and is a member of the European Commision working group on software, as well as the clinical investigation and evaluation working group. He is also a prolific member of groups such as COCIR, DITTA and NEN on software, AI, cybersecurity and active device committees and boards.

Leo Hovestadt is EU Director Governmental Affairs, with more than 30 years of experience in the medical device industry at Elekta and Medtronic. Prior to his current position, Leo worked as International QA and RA director. He was closely involved from the start with the MDD directive and the MDR regulation. He is representing industry as stakeholder with the creation of European MDR guidance, and International IMDRF guidance. He is a regular speaker at congresses on MDR, clinical, artificial intelligence and other regulatory topics.
